HISTORY OF THE FRIENDS

1981 Friends chartered as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization  
1982 First Library Opens on Railroad Street 1982 Library image
1985 Second Library Location at 102 S. 3rd Street provided by the City of Pflugerville. 1985 Library image
1992 Friends gifts the Library collection and equipment/furniture to the City of Pflugerville.  
1997 City of Pflugerville passes a $3-million bond issue to build a new Library and Recreation Center.

Friends gifts 1.6 acres to the City for the new 12,500 square foot Library.

2004 Dedication of the "Window to the World" funded by the Charter organization of the Friends in appreciation to the City of Pflugerville, for continuing the Friends' dream, and to the many individuals of the Community-at-Large who made it happen. Window to the world image

Friends honored with Municipal Excellence Award

The City of Pflugerville was presented the 2007 Municipal Excellence Award in the category of City Spirit for cities of more than 25,000. The Texas Municipal League award recognized the City for the “Pflugerville: A Heritage to Remember” oral history project. At its December 11, 2007, meeting, the Pflugerville City Council presented the Excellence Award to the volunteers who were involved in the oral history project and recognized each volunteer with a Certificate of Achievement. The Award will be on display at the Pflugerville Community Library.
